Change your Life with One Conversation

Some conversations change your life!

I am a firm believer in the quote, “You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” (Charlie Jones)

This is very true. Have you changed your direction based on a conversation? Attended an event or a lecture because someone mentioned it perhaps directly or in passing?

Share with me a time that a conversation has changed your mindset or your actions or your life. I would love to hear about it.

I have been invited to interviews based on one conversation. I can honestly say that those conversations have changed my life.

This week I have a challenge for you: Pick someone to have an amazing conversation with. They must be:

  1. Very experienced

  2. Senior in ranking

  3. Someone you have never met

If you choose to accept this challenge, as after all you are reading this to help advance your career– BE BOLD! it is amazing what could come out of this one simple challenge.YOU can do this.

While you are on LinkedIN, connect with me.

I’ll tell you about one of my experiences doing this very same challenge. I reached out to the owner of several McDonald Restaurants about 6 years ago. I simply told her I was working on a project and would like to have her insight. I was amazed that she accepted my meeting request.

I remember the day I met her and what she taught me.

She was very generous with her time and explained how she became owner of McDonald’s. She also taught me about having empathy as a leader, that managers don’t like to be managed, and that opportunities are limitless if you set your mind to it.

I walked away with great advice – measure in Seconds and Cents. This one piece of advice has stayed true to everything I have managed. The measure in Seconds refers to time, and Cents, Money. It was one conversation and it change my mindset.

You can execute this challenge! Right now before you have time to be shy, BE BOLD – Reach out to someone and ask them for a conversation!
